My journey
My name is Niraj, and I work as an actuary in the city. I’ve always loved maths from a young age, and that translated seamlessly to an actuarial career. However, beyond the numbers, I’m deeply passionate about the power of lived experience.
Both inside and outside of my career, I raise awareness around neurodiversity and share my own experiences to help others who may be facing similar challenges. I do this through public speaking, blogging, and guest appearances on podcasts, where I talk about topics such as unmasking, self advocacy and navigating professional environments as a neurodivergent person.
My speaking engagements have taken me across the UK, including schools, universities, and conferences, where I aim to inspire others to embrace who they truly are.
In 2023, I started on an unmasking journey to show my authentic self to the world. This journey has proven to be incredibly challenging, yet it has also been the most rewarding experience I have encountered to date. Through this process of self-discovery, I have gained valuable lessons that I hope to share with others.
My journey has not been without it's challenges. In 2021, I reached a point of autistic burnout due to the challenges faced in the pandemic. This forced me to reflect on a lot of things, and really think about what works for me. However, I wanted to use what was a painful experience to help others, which inspired me to start my advocacy work to help other people.
Today, I continue to speak openly about my lived experiences of neurodiversity, authenticity, and the actuarial profession, and inspire others in the process.
If you’d like to connect, I’m always open to:
-
Public speaking invitations (conferences, panels, schools, corporate events)
-
Podcast guest opportunities
-
Sharing insights on the actuarial profession
-
Or simply connecting with like-minded people who value authenticity and advocacy
If that sounds like you — I’d love to hear from you.
